Well... they're not all for causing death and there are only three:
1) Sodium thiopental: to induce a state of unconsciousness intended to last while the other two injections take effect.
2) Pancuronium/Tubocurarine: to stop all muscle movement except the heart. This causes muscle paralysis, collapse of the diaphragm, and would eventually cause death by asphyxiation.
3) Potassium chloride: to stop the heart from beating, and thus cause death by cardiac arrest.
Also:
Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, the Death Penalty Information Center, and other anti-death penalty groups, have not proposed a lethal injection protocol which they believe is more humane.
Check my sources for more info.
Hope this helps!

It is the toxicology in the Lethal Injection done to death row inmates that is in great numbers. It has several chemical compounds. It is just generally one needle with two injections into a IV line. As one person stated one to relax the other to kill. Same with animals they will generally knocked out first for comfort then injected with a fatal dose.

Most vets I have seen and I have seen a lot just give one injection and is very quick don't know if they still do but a lot used an overdose of anaesthetic to send the animal to sleep and stop the heart. With a human being it could take it a long time for that to happen and they want it to be seen to be done quickly and humanely.

They want it to hurt but they don't want the witnesses to hear screams and feel sorry for the person so the first jab paralyses and the rest cause a painful death.
Americans are barbarians for executing people especially in such cruel ways.

Hanging is by far the quickest and most efficient way of putting someone to death, other than a bullet,(but that may not be totally effective if the aim is slightly off). When hangings were carried out in this country the criminal was dispatched in seconds,by a very efficient hang man.

Why do they put anyone to death in the first place? You are the only nation in the Wesern World still to have State sanctioned executions. By killing people in this way you are becoming no better than them. This coming from the USA who claim to be "Christians". How can it be christian doing this? Jesus said "Love your enemies" NOT kill them!

Welcome to the world of bleeding heart liberalism. This convicted murderer who killed an innocent person gets to die peacefully by being put to sleep first, then a lethal dose is injected to finish the execution. Hardly the death the victim got, theirs was more violent, naturally.
I'm a firm believer in the electric chair, the gas chamber, or a bullet. ( Ammo is cheap. )

Watch my lips now, because the people who would be involved in any way with executions handed down by US courts are STUPID!

it's a lot harder to kill a person than a dog or cat or something..since our bodies are a lot more complex.....
by the way Emma b...they do only use one injection to put down most pets, don't argue when you've never seen it before.
