Usually, when I go to a Club alone, I go straite to the Bar and order a beer and pay. Then I give $2 right away. Is that appropriate?

Most bartenders are working for tips and get very little from their employer. So try and leave a good tip :)

Oh to the *** that says don't tip a bartender because they don't do work. That is total bullshit. I had to learn and know 170+ drinks. That is work, plus dealing with drunk people, and busy bars. Be nice and tip your bartender.

In my opinion it is appropriate. A lot of people bar tend in clubs for the tips (they can really make a lot of money that way) and sometimes don't even receive an hourly wage. I usually tip with my first drink and after that every few drinks. Usually I wind up tipping $1 per drink. If you feel that they are doing a great job, don't feel bad about tipping well... that is the whole point of tipping in the first place! However, it is important to not let yourself get overly generous if you become drunk...

Also, keep in mind... if you are in a major city and at a hip club people normally tip higher, but if you are at a small club in the middle of nowhere, you are probably going to get away with giving a smaller tip.

Thats not a problem. remember alot of places dont pay bartenders they work only for tips. I personally try to run a tab and at the end I tip 20% if they were good tenders. if not only 15%. When I go some where that doesnt allow tabs then I usually tip $1 every twp beers that equalls up to alot sometimes bepending on how many is drunk. Just use your own discression. Just remember they are watching you tip the more they see the better they treat you. ( mixed drinks may even get stronger)

usually tipping is 15%-20% depending on how good a job a person has done. unfortunately people have tipped more in recent times for drinks only. the typical where I hang out is $1 a drink, 50 cents for each additional drink in a trip. If I order 3 people drinks $2. If I order 4 people drinks 2.50....I have even had a waitress stop serving me because I didn't want to break a 20 yet and tipped her a quarter and told her I'd get her next time. Next time came around, and I gave her 2.25 and she didn't count it, but assumed I only gave her a quarter again, she ignored us the rest of the night until we cornered her, then she got snippy and told us that she doesn't work for quarters only for dollars. I say start a tab and tip 15%.

I leave one dollar per drink ordered.

I work in a bar/ restaurant and if you do not tip your drinks will be mixed weak and your beer warm. You will be served last and if you appear "drunk" you will be cut off.

By the way, a note to "Australia"-- If you don't like the way we do things, don't come here. Many Americans visit Australia and we are honored to experience life as you live it while we are there. If you had any class you would know the saying "When in Rome..."

$1 a drink so if u buy for a few of ur friends at the same time its always $1 for however many drinks ur gettin each time if u do that and its with the same bartender and its not too crowded they'll usually buy back every 4th or 5th drink depending on the bartender a nice trick i use is just run a tab leave ur credit or debit card with the bartender makes it easier for them to keep track of what ur drinkin and better chance of them buyin back also u can get away with not tippin $1 for every drink u can just tip at the end of the night but if u run the tab and pay on the card always tip cash at the end anyway they like cash cash they walk home with at the end of the night credit card tips they get with their regular check so in review $1 a drink try to run a tab use the same bartender always tip cash even when paying credit all of that makes a happy bartender

I usually tip $1 a drink if I just order something simple like beer or a drink with one mixer. Anything complicated I tip more becuase it takes more time especially anything fruity or frozen.

It depends where you are. In the USA and Canada 15% is common enough; in Britain bar staff tend not to expect tips. Each country is different.

Any service job deserves a tip. If he pours a decent drink then give him/her decent tip about a $1 a drink for something simple. If your drink is weak, poured sloppily, or just not right, then do not tip. It is not that hard to mix a drink.

I'm so glad we don't have to tip in Australia. Maybe you guys should start demanding decent wages instead of having to have people tip you to be able to buy food to feed your children.
Just a thought.
Just think, if everyone they pour a beer for gives them two bucks, they're probably making more money than you!
