Puppy mills are places where dogs are bred without regard to their health or well being. Just type in puppy mill on your browser, and look and see some of the horrors that go on there. Dogs are imbred, without a thought to any type of health problems it may cause. And heart problems are just some of the medical issues associated with Puppy Mills. The do it because they can make money..they are in business because no one has put a stop to them. They are all over this country. And they do change their names because someone complains or that particular name got shut down..they just come up with a different name, but are the same people. Puppy mills breed their animals until they are no longer useful, then just let them die. They aren't fed because they aren't bringing in the money anymore. They are just left to starve to death, or worse.
Unfortunately many pet stores buy from puppy mills and get away with it.
You say you got her from a rescue...they may have called themselves a rescue, but they weren't. Just some puppy mill calling themselves that.
A legitimate rescue actually rescues dogs or other animals from puppy mills. They don't try to pass them off as well bred dogs. People adopt from reputable agencys, knowing they are puppy mill dogs and are prepared to take care of them. They need special care to get over the horrors of a puppy mill. Even puppies need special care.
Getting a dog from a rescue, is the same as getting a dog from a reputable breeder. You need to check out the agency thoroughly before commiting yourself. And reputable rescues will also check you out thoroughly to make sure you are going to give the animal a warm, loving safe home.

I agree with justagranma. But I wouldn't blame the heart murmur on that. One of my Shih Tzu's were born with a heart murmur and she came from a very good breeder. She is 13 years old and still doing great. Not sure what you meant by a serious DNA???It would break your heart if you ever seen a puppy mill. I see people in here every day shouting off to people who want to breed their dog a backyard breeder or a puppy mill. That is not always the case. Puppy mills breed and breed and breed their dogs. They start at six months and don't stop until the dog dies. They are taken away from their mommies right after they open their eyes and can walk. They never have medical treatment and keep in cages. Their main function is to produce puppies. For pet stores, For people who sales them at a flea market. I have known puppies brought in the USA in trunks. In suit cases. I can tell you horror stories what a puppy mill does.
These people in here are not back yard breeders or puppy mill. I am not saying there isn't one but most that ask question aren't.. Puppy mill people or back yard breeder don't give a hoot what you think.
Well there is my two cents worth lol.

A rescue isn't a puppy mill, a puppy mill is an place where dogs are bred without sufficient care as to the history of the sire and dam and without cleanliness or proper feeding or vet care, with the sole intent to make money, as quickly and cheaply without any regard to the quality of the mom or pups.
I don't know what the dna is but it might be a do not approach, or something of that order.
A rescue is where purebred dogs are taken when the owner can no longer keep them. The rescue should be investigating the new owner to make sure he/she has the proper environment and is ready to afford the care of a new animal.
Its rare that a rescue would have purebred pubs since it costs a good deal to produce a legitimate litter and purebreds can be sold.
Something isn't right here and I would call and speak to whomever answers, you may have a legal case if you return your pup.
I have oversimplified both my description of puppy mill and the work that rescues do to try and keep this at a reasonable length.

A puppy mill is usually a place where people breed puppies for money, rather than love. They'll constantly have female dogs pregnant, and usually sell puppies to pet shops in crammed crates with little or no food & water. Most pups will die before getting to the shop, and they often have medical probmlems if they do survive.

a puppy mill is where dogs are breed in cages and have no vet assistance. they are basically breed for money to death. they can be inner breed meaning brother an sister which is wrong. It is really bad. and most end up in shelters. and sick. I have done my best as a breeder to keep these places out of business but i can't do it alone. I care about my dogs, and won't breed them like that.

These are places where some selfish @#$%s take a couple of pedigree dogs and mate them, then interbreed them and/or their offspring. They only care about the money they can make from all the offspring. But the inbreeding causes serious genetic defects (often heart problems)... Life expectancy (without treatment with steroids, etc) is usually quite short...

They the two flow to the look after, are killed and dumped, abandoned , used to perpetuate the cycle or are auctioned off to somebody else's breeding application. yet an decision decision is being bought immediately from the 'breeder's' homestead to three damaging unsuspecting sap who thinks 2500$ for a mutt is nicely worth it. ETA: queenchef93 doggy generators don't have ANY 'severe-high quality' animals. they do no longer care approximately genetic themes, inbreeding or wellbeing issues. doggies are funds and the greater canines they have pumping out doggies the greater funds they make. ETA: confident, canines have it tough. lots of them finally end up undesirable because of the fact their proprietors are retards, getting used for income, destroyed, abandoned and worse. this is a massive area of the clarification that one and all dogs proprietors/dogs enthusiasts ought to stand up and paintings in the direction of ending doggy generators, irresponsible possession and the puppy over inhabitants. it is somebody decision yet each and every guy or woman does make a distinction. i in my view blow hundreds of greenbacks a 300 and sixty 5 days on my animals and NONE of that funds is going to ANY shop which sells stay animals. this is hundreds of greenbacks a 300 and sixty 5 days which does no longer flow to lining the wallet of doggy generators, BYBs etc. it is not international-changing on my own yet integrate it with various thousand human beings doing an identical with their puppy-funds and it does upload as much as a extensive income-loss.

you can search puppy mill stuff on the internet. ( i cannot talk about it - toooo disgusting and sad) this is why you should NEVER buy a dog from a pet store or a backyard breeder with no experience.... HEALTH PROBLEMS abound,,, always always go thru a reputable breeder for a dog.. start at akc.org and go from there sorry for your dilemma ,, but , if you are a regular here,, we are always warning against not using a reputable breeder

A puppy mill is a place where people tend to sell dogs from horrid conditions(small cages, unhealthy, no interactivity/caring) for high prices. These places can have tons of dogs. I've heard of some having thousands.
