in our area..lay generally refers to having relations as a less than acceptable slang. my question is why would you want to have relations with a cable and at my house no less?

Nope. If you lay it outside, I will probably hit it with the lawnmower. If you lay it inside, I will be tripping over it all the time. Thats why I have satelite.
