Does anyone know how it is spread? I have a cat that I'm worried might be infected.... but the only cat's she's had contact with was when she was around 3 weeks old (her litter.)

My baby has been lethargic this last week. She's ran a fever and weight loss. Her fever has gone down and she has started eating more....

Someone who knows more or can help me... I'm calling for you..

She's Better!

Lucy is back to her normal self. I'm waiting for her to start to gain back some weight but for the most part she's back to normal. I came home from work and she's running around. I'm sitting at my desk this moment and she's clawing up my jeans to sit on my lap, just purring.

Thanks for all of your help and suggestions.

Oh my God! That's really sad. But the disease's pretty rare. Just ask the vet for symptoms of FIV and ask if you're cat's got it. I don't feel it has got it. I hope not.
Anyways, good luck!

FIV is generally spread through blood and saliva in cats. To know for sure if your cat has been infected, I would recommend a vet visit for a FIV blood test. Good Luck.

Check out this link on FIV:

There are many other viruses kittens can contract, like FIP, Feline Leukemia, Calici virus, Herpes virus, Panleukopenia.
I'd see your vet. Think of a kitten as a human baby, you wouldn't let a human baby go a week with lethargy, fever, weight loss would you?
This website can give you more information on feline diseases, just put one of the names above in the search window or type in infectious feline diseases:

if you want her tested the vet can run an inhouse test for you. Only takes a few minutes and in the northeast only costs $30-40

I would take her to a vet immediately.
I'm not sure how old she is, but a change in behavior like that usually means there is some kind of a problem, & a vet would be the one to figure it out.
Don't wait.
Take her ASAP.
Good luck, hope baby feels better! :-)
