When you are at the grocery store and the person in front of you is paying with food stamps, while wearing fake nails and talking on their (top of the line) cell phone. Or when you are driving through a section 8 housing plan and most of the cars in the lot are more expense than the car you drive?? Not trying to be rude but it is driving me nuts!!

For those of you using the "racist card" I said people in general. I never mentioned color or creed, but you obviously you did so who is the racist?
Bajllc..I respect your opinion and appreciate your answers. But there are a few things you should know. I volunteer weekends at a volunteer ambulance company (as an EMT), I am a member of the salvation army, and I have strong ties to my church and community. I do not have fake nails, I drive a beat up car, and my son wears hand me downs. I work a full time job on top of my other activities, but yet I do not have government assistance. I am not commenting on people who need the system I am commenting on the people who abuse it.

I drive a Jaguar, have my nails, feet and hair done weekly. I wear fur and diamonds and sometimes, when I am paying for the food that I am picking up at the market, I use the food stamp card. I volunteer for handicap elderly people who sometimes can not get out. More times than not, the card does not provide enough money to actually get the food they need to remain well fed.I pay out of my pocket for some of the items I know they need and can't afford. They also live in income adjusted housing, which is also usually sub standard. Do you think that I should park my car and catch a bus to do my volunteer work? There are thousands of us who do this, I am not JUST one. Try it yourself and see the dirty looks you get. i REALLY DON'T CARE WHO SNICKERS BECAUSE THE TEARS OF JOY I GET AFTER I DO MY ERRANDS ARE MORE THAN WORTH THE SNICKERS AND DIRTY LOOKS.

I understand where you are coming from. But the only thing I would think about before I let it get to me too much is, what if the girl got a manicure and nails as a gift from her best friend. What if Her dad bought her the cell phone after saving for awhile because he wanted to be able to give his daughter a nice gift for once in his life, and what if that phone belongs to her best friend, or brother or something and they let her use it for the day because she would be out and her car isn't exactly reliable? I would just be careful not to judge a book by the cover.
But, again, I do understand your feelings on this because I have often found myself in a situation where I didn't have much because I was raising 2 kids alone, and working very hard for every little thing, and never seemed to get ahead because no matter what, I couldn't afford to do what it took to get ahead, then I would see people that have a mercedes or bmw, nice clothes, and they are collecting welfare. And it does twist my stomach but I have to wonder if I just don't know the "whole story".
Hey, excellent example is what "bajllc" wrote above!!!!

It used to bother me. A long time ago i worked at a bakery and this lady used up a ton of her food stamps to pay for one large specialty cake (almost like a wedding cake) then she drove off in a nice SUV. I couldn't believe it. But hey-whatcha gonna do? So anyway I seen it so much that I just got over it. Unfortunately, in the end, those that take advantage, will be the ones that will lose out-welfare no longer lasts forever. I feel it should only be used when really needed. If down the line they should really need assistance they won't be able to.

They are everywhere. I see them all the time and it not right. I see Illegals get food stamp, free medical care and social security and never pay a dime in taxes. We need to clean up America.

YEAH. I have another perspective, though. I see students at my school wearing dirty clothes who haven't bathed in a while eating free lunch at school, but their parents are heavy with bling, dressed like they just walked out of Saks, and driving new cars. Where the Hello Kitty are their priorities?

Doesn't bother me too much, unless the person paying is rude to the cashier, to me that is worse than if they were driving a brand new Lexus. Just my weird personal opinion.

Have you ever looked at the groceries they are able to purchase with their food stamps? No budgets... steak, sodas, top of the line products.... It seems to me food stamps should be for the necessities... not the luxury items, that many of us hard working people have to struggle for.

Yes ,but then what make me crazy , is they take it from people who need the help.
I am a strong supporter of no welfare for people under 21,parents must pay the bills.
Most people in section 8 housing are drug dealers.
I think if they live in a house I pay rent on,they should be drug tested.
Making parents more responsible will stop a lot of under age pregnancies.
Welfare comes out of Social Security.<><

No; it doesn't bother me. I don't begin to know the circumstances of another person's life, and it is not my job to judge them or make assumptions. I try to concentrate on being the kind of person I want to be, and don't worry much about what someone else has.

It bothers me that the system is not monitored better.
My personal favorite in this category is a person using food stamps who is buying all junk food!
