rice is the staple food in asia. lots of our meals revolve around rice. white rice, sushui, fried rice etc etc. unlike european or caucasian places where polutry or pasta takes charge. i would'nt say asian like rice but its already a big part of our daily life that many asian alredy overlook in its importantance.

rice is a huge part of the asian culture. i can't say that about White. I rarely see White people who express the need to eat rice at all times.

No matter what the race, we all need our proteins and carbs and what have you.

In Asia, the most dominant source of carbohydrates is rice. That is why rice is the more preferred source of carbs. In the US, there is more corn and wheat, therefore flours are produced which is why bread and pasta are preferred sources of carbs.

but it does not follow that if you are asian, you have to eat rice. i am asian but i don't eat rice as much. nor do i eat bread a lot. i'd rather have a plate of pasta for my carb source.

I suppose it depends on your upbringing, it is not a question of like or not like, it is perhaps what could be called a condition. We grow up with rice, you with bread or potatoes. Potatoes don't seem to fill me, I need rice when I am hungry, yet I do like potatoes, they are very versatile and can make a meal by themselves (I still need rice 'on the side' with a potato meal). We tend to have a big plate of steamed rice, plus some dishes to go with it; of course there are also rice dishes, such as nasi goreng...!

Have a nice day - here in Borneo we go to sleep now!

It's the climate -- seed potatoes spoil over the mild damp winter in the southern US; so rice it is!

My father's people from eastern North Caroline always had rice with the gravy from fried chicken. Yummm!

If you had suggested that my father's family weren't really white, you would have been seriously at risk.

It's all about climate. Rice grows well in the hot humid climates of India, China and Southeast Asia. Wheat, barley and rye grow better in cooler European climates.

Rice for them is like bread or potatoes for Europeans. They make rice with most meals, and we eat bread and potatoes with most meals.

They have had rice for thousands of years, and have many different kinds of rice: long grain, sticky, rice flour, rice noodles, etc. And we Europeans have different kinds of bread because we have eaten it for so long: white bread, wheat bread, sourdough, rolls, loaves, baguettes, pasta, etc.

It's not so much liking rice more, it's that rice is their traditional staple food.

I don't know about that, I love rice. My poor husband occasionally has to beg me to make potatoes or pasta. LOL

And I'm about as white as you can get.
