My boyfriend donated a kidney to his dad. Both are doing very well. All of the medicines you have to take to keep your body from rejecting the transplant can be a pain, but overall it is worth it! A good friend of the family recently had a lung transplant, and she is doing amazingly well. Everybody should seriously consider signing organ donor cards.

I know many people who are transplant recipients, having had a cardiac transplant myself in 2001.It is very important that we as transplant recipients speak out about the positive aspects of organ transplant namely the fact that it extends life for people that would have otherwise died and that only people who are near death are eligible for organ transplant. It is also important to thank our donor families for their donors generosity and selflessness.
Equally important is to honor all the people in the medical field who have dedicated their careers and lives to organ transplant without whom we would have no organ transplants.
Finally I believe organ transplant recipients should do what they can to people aware through providing information about how to get an organ donor card and and what organ donation is about.
There are currently approximately 160,000 people living in the US with and organ transplant of any kind and 95,000 on waiting lists for heart, lung kidney, liver and all other organ transplants today.

Two very informative sites are:
www.unos.org
www.organdonor.gov
I can be contacted by email @ clonedeagle1-email@yahoo.com to request information about organ transplant from recipient aspect or information about organ donation or how to get an organ donor card.
