I do, I think religion is an excuse for lack of knowledge, and to have religious belief is a way for mankind to explain the unknown. God is more of a theory just like evolution and the big bang. I am empiric agnostic and if there is enough evidence to prove any theory on life, I will believe it. Currently, I think mankind doesn't have the ability to be certain about anything. Do you agree? If God is real why wouldnt He show us His existence? Why would there be so much suffering in the world? From what I know about christianity, people who have never heard of Jesus, will go to hell, simply because of the fact that they know nothing of the Lord. Why would God do that to innocent people? If He knows all of what is, has been and will be, why the need for testing our belief? The outcome is already written in stone so to speak. Does anyone disagree with me AND have logical reasoning? I think religion is also a sort of insurance for the afterlife, but I cant pretend to believe in something

I can't take credit for comparing God to a placebo, because I saw it on postsecret, but when I saw it, that simile pretty much described my beliefs

I'm not saying I am perfect and my opinion is the best one out there and that I am 100% right, I probably don't have all of my facts right, but what I'm asking for is a logical contradiction so maybe I could get some insight on someone else's veiw on religion. I'm only 14 years old and I know I'm not stupid, but I also know that I am not an expert in well anything. Maybe if I had a relationship with God I could believe in him knowing my experiences count as evidence, but as of right now I don't see how I could believe in God

He can do whatever he wants right? Why not make all of mankind believe in him? Why not make his attempt be perfect so that all of mankind believe in him? Wouldn't the world be a better place if everyone knew that there was a loving God out there that is watching over us?

Maybe you mean panacea and not placebo?
In either case, no, I do not agree.

If man is innocent before the Lord, and God is love, and man has only a simple choice to make, then I can't disagree with you at all, you're absolutely right. Partially sinful, or even mostly sinful, as long as man has an ability to look to God for salvation, the Lord may as well be just a placebo, or a telemarketer, or a test proctor, with a big "I don't know" for an answer to your suffering and proof-of-existence questions. Infinite love for everyone turns into infinite wrath for some after the dividing line of death, and again, no explanation for this, sadness at having to show anger is a non sequitur as far as I'm concerned.

Be very careful of the God trip. Religions are extremely good at emotional manipulation. Theyt have been practicing the art for thousands of years and have it down to a science.
Religion is not like a placebo. It is more like a severe drug addiction. The methods of religion are only different from the extreme cults in how far they are willing to go.

I use to believe what you see, use be deep into science, math, space, etc. Use to be in high ranks of management, district manager and even offered to control a state for a company. Have owned 3 of my own businesses.
Gave it all up to be with G_d. Why? Cause I 100% believe for I have seen, and what I saw and felt was before I knew the Bible. And NOTHING man has nor NOTHING man says can ever change that.
Funny how G_d works......I was the perfect agent for the devil....but now I use that power on G_d's side. Bring it on Lucifer.....I see you.

But listen, a placebo?
Once I had to give some sedative to my Grandma who had ternminal cancer, it was a strong sedative and she calmed down ok, but later she wouldnt want to wake up. when she woke up she was more confused than ever.
Later i learned that she could calm down a lot easier by reading form her prayer book that she read every day since who knows when. She not only calmed down, but was able to face death a little more bravely. I dint even give her the stupid sedative any more.
And listen, how many more people died trusting in this placebo?
like the poeple who entered the nazi gas chambers "upright"- thousands of them.

Ok here, I will try to proove. or at least reason:
There are people who are atheists and those that are religious. Then there are those who just think God is just a creator - someone who left humanity on its own.
These people are the worst off. Why? because they arent free of the thought of God like atheists are. But they dont feel God's presence either like the religious. They feel like they are missing something. Like they feel they can do anything with their life, but dont even know what they want anymore. They think God is abandoning and silent.
So to prove that God exists is not good enough, I also need to prove that he is a loving God, because we are better off if I prove that. No?
And arent we even better off if I prove that he is so loving that he is love itself?
But Im not shure I can! You know why? Because God himself tried! He came to show his compassion to humanity but they killed him.
But was that the end of it? No. He couldnt leave it at that because his love must be proven! So what did He do? He moved underground, to operate in secret. Right into people's souls! To change their actions and thoughts. So they will also love, and will give up everything to proove it. And the sacrifice of his saints and martyrs are his proof! It is through their lives that he begs us to beleive.

Your logical reasoning works within the confines of our world. God's reasoning is far different. First, let me say I don't believe, I know. Understanding, that not everyone has reached that conclusion... God wants us to come to the conclusion that He exists by searching for him... in other words by making a decision that the world and it's complexities are bigger than we are, and then finding Him in a personal way. As far as people "hearing of God", who hasn't heard, 19th century missionaries working with remost African tribes who had not been in contact with western ideas, found they had a belief in a single God, who sent a Son to Earth, so don't be too sure God hasn't revealed Himself. As far as Hell, I can't help you there, God makes it easy not to go to Hell and while I'm not sure where non-believers spend eternity I know it's not heaven, any thing short of that for me would be Hell.

The internal experience of God is a reaction to events in the outside world, but when you are told that your feelings are the "holy spirit," then you come to believe that those emotional feelings are God. If you go to an emotionally powerful movie, you don't think a similar reaction is God, but if you are emotionally moved in Church, people often assume it's God speaking to them.
Perhaps it's just the normal emotional reactions people have when confronted with the difficult issues in life.

religion is someones comfort zone, some sort of high power, it gives them hope and inspiriation, these organised religions are still in place because for hundreds of years scientists, intellectuals have still not come up with a conclusion of simple truth, thats everyone, and i mean 6 billion people will comprehend an agree, cos so far its a impossibility. for now anyway

in case you havent heard, similar comments were posted in magazine in 1993 in the state of California and many Christians reponded by writing in to state that most of the believers were holding high positions in society., like lawyers, doctors, judges etc. many of the top congressmen are Christians as well.
Albert Einstein also believed in God. before WW2, most of the leadership positions in the Us were also hold by Christians from CEOs to judges to principles of colleges.
I bet you dun know about all these...... now who is the 'LACK lack of knowledge' one??
get your facts right first before posting these comments and make a fool of yourself.
