Well, it depends. If her health is otherwise good, she may recover a bit more easily. However, if the infection is complicated by other factors that are typical of the elderly such as: diabetes, bone problems, etc. her body may not fight the infection very effectively. Yes, my grandma has had this happen twice, unfortunately from her psycho cat that attacked and scratched her, but she will not get rid of him. She was forever getting the place to heal and get over the blood infection. It also made her feel just yucky in general.
