This is so stupid, but I didn't think they would lay eggs until a week ago! They started making a nest out of newspaper.

One of them broke. I made the nest and I going to buy one. She was attepmpting to push over the nest to get to her egg. Then she let me tip it over. So I did and know she's a little more saticfied.

Hi there. Most birds will sit on eggs when the last egg is laid and many lay more than 2. You need to confirm whether the eggs are fertile. Just because copulation occurred doesn't mean that they are fertile.Feed your birds a good pellet food, limit seeds to 10%, 10-20% fruits and veggies and add chopped cooked chicken egg with the shell. It takes a lot of nutrients, extra calcium and protein to get healthy offspring. You can candle the eggs with strong flashlight in the dark and if you see a network of what looks like red veins, then they are fertile. Provide them with the appropriate nest box and nesting material outside of the box so your female can build her own. You can handle the eggs with clean hands so that your skin oils don't clog the pores of the eggs which can prevent the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide. If they are not fertile eggs, you can remove one per week. Sometimes quick removal signals the bird to lay more. Nest boxes can be found in pet stores that sell birds. Be sure to get the one made for your birds. The cost is between 5-10 dollars. Hang in there. Things will improve. You have your work cut out for you. Have a tweet spring.

What sort of bird is this? I agree with the other answers regarding a proper nest, but also, if this is a species that lays more than two eggs she won't start to incubate them until she has laid all of the eggs. And, I'm sorry, but the presence of a pair doesn't necessarily mean the eggs are fertile. You can't determine that until they have incubated long enough for you to see the embryo developing via candling.
Edit: touching the eggs isn't going to stop the mum from sitting on them. I handle all of my birds eggs several times during incubation to check the progress of the embryo.

one thing you never pick up any birds eggs with human hands cause if you did then the mother bird wouldnt able take care of her own eggs anymore if there are human germ on the eggs you might kill the new born . dont worrying about the eggs cause the mother bird might just takeing her break then she will go back to the eggs after . but if you want to make her a bird nest you can use few tree brunches and break them slices piece so that it can fit in the bird cage , if you have some cotton balls you can use them also , then if you do have a small plant pot that you dont even use anymore ? if you do have one then you can use it or you can also use a small plastic basket that looks little small and you can use that for keeping the eggs and have the mother bird lay in there to look alike a nest by putting everything you got and put them in side the basket .

I have a friend who had this happen too. She made a little nest in the cage using tissue paper and very carefully picked the egg up using the tissue so as not to leave any oil or scent on it and then moved it to the nest. The mama bird then began to sit on the egg and it eventually hatched!

You NEED a nesting box for her to sit on the eggs! You can buy them at a pet store. What king of bird is she? Please tell me for further info, but I know that if you handle them the bird might reject them. Try this: take a small shallow clean bowl (preferabbly plastic). Put it on top of a shoebox or anything that will make it high. Fill the inside with nesting materiels and make a nest shape with stuff like cotton, shredded toilet paper, and straw or dried grass.
I'm really sorry if my advice is no help at all becase I have not experienced problems like this!

do you already know in case you have a male and a woman ? A male might have a blue band for the time of it rather is nostril and a woman might have a purple or dark purple band..in case you spot the female on the backside of the cage plenty it is rather useful to get her a nest container and nesting textile so she will lay her eggs. It takes approximately 17 days or so for the eggs to hatch. confident the mum will take a seat on the eggs. She must additionally feed them with out any help from you..yet whilst she does not you need to purchase feeding formula from a puppy keep

I suggest don't touch them to much the mother may not take them if your scent is on them put gloves on and put them somewhere warm and well lite and put a cloth under them so they wont break if the mother wont sit on them after a week or two then see about an incubator.
