I have barley, kidney beans, and lentils that have been sitting in my closet forever-do they ever go "bad"?

If your dried bean or lentils were to go bad you'd know it. They either start growing or mold.

Quart size jars are great, and old mayo or mustard jars are free. I prefer glass, but plastic bottles won't brake and ruin your beans.

If you live in a humid climate you can take the silica packets you get in vitamins and toss them in with the beans.

Zip lock bags work really great too. The cheap plastic bags the come in seem to break down easy so if I'm not going to do anything else with a bag of beans I toss them in a zip lock bag so I know they are safe and pest free.

We eat a lot beans so I wash enough beans to make them two or three times. Cook a small batch and put the others in a zip lock bag in the frig and eat them in a week or so.

Beans are high fiber and really good for you. Eat more!

I fairly have some pinto beans i've got had for awhile, and that i basically wanted to be responsive to in the event that they have been nonetheless in good condition to be eaten. (even regardless of the indisputable fact that they are in a heavy accountability zip storage bag). I plan on soaking them in a single day besides.

Actually those are earthquake preparedness foods in which they can last for a long time. Especially the ones you have, they can last as long as 10 years in the USA. Of course it would have to be air tight and kept really good.

Dry beans will keep indefinitely if stored in a dry place.
If stored in an airtight container, will retain most of their nutrients for a year.

Kept dry and in tightly enclosed containers, I'd use them even if they had been there for years. I don't think it affects the quality.
