About 3/4 of the people that have chlamydia have no symptoms. Is it possible that you've had it this whole time and just now found out? If you haven't been tested in the last 5 years, that is one possibility. I guess it is also possible that your partner came into the relationship already infected and gave it to you. Other than that, if you didn't get it before this relationship started, the only other possibility is that one of you was NOT monogamous.
It's sexually transmitted. You don't get it from a toilet seat as someone else suggested.

Uhhh, he's clear because he went to the doctor and got rid of it... Chlamydia can't lie dormant for that long, someone must have picked it up outside the relationship. At least it was Chylmidia which is curable and not herpes or something you would have for the rest of your life. You'd better dump this guy because one of you has been sleeping around and from your question it doesn't sound like it was you.
Sorry this has happened to you :(

in response to the first answer YOU CANNOT CATCH AN STD BY A TOILET SEAT!! i can't believe that people still buy that crap. anyway, like another person mentioned, he's either lying to you or one of you had it and didn't know it. it's up to you to decide what you want to think. he needs to be tested and find out if he's really 'clear' or if he's just in denial. you mentioned that you have been tested for years and nothing showed...all signs point to him. from now on, have protected sex...even in the context of a relationship.

Chlamydia is known as a "silent" disease because about three quarters of infected women and about half of infected men have no symptoms. If symptoms do occur, they usually appear within 1 to 3 weeks after exposure.

According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chlamydia, "[n]ot all infected people exhibit symptoms of infection. About half of all men and three-quarters of all women who have chlamydia have no symptoms and do not know that they are infected." Also "chlamydia is known as the 'Silent Epidemic' because in women, it may not cause any symptom and will linger for months or years before being discovered" whereas in men" chlamydia may not cause any symptoms."

If you've both been tested before without showing chlamydia, it's possible that this means he was cheating...
It's also possible he had it and it just took this long for you to catch it if you were using condoms. But if you've both tested negative before that's quite suspicious.

hmmm....sounds like he's not clear after all. I would definitely talk to him about this. get tested together, so there is absolutely no confusion. It's up to you whether you want to believe him, but I would say no.

No offense, and I hate to say it, but it sounds like either your partner has cheated or they've had it before and didn't know.
