Now that very much depends on the meal in question.
Cheese, ham, lettuce, beetroot - Salad Cream
Chicken, Beef, Chips - Mayonnaise

mayo - definately! Goes with so much more things.
Salad cream is a bit runny and makes the tomatoes in a salad sandwich a bit slimy.

Salad cream is foreign to us in the states. I've seen it in the British food section of grocery stores and it looks scary : (
So I have to pick mayo, although I only like it in egg or tuna salads.

Mayo tastes much better with salad but salad cream is great mixed with hard-boiled eggs, tinned fish and stuff like that.
