At a friend's 40th birthday, his fiance found (online) boxes of "retro" candy. It was a blast remembering all of the different candy we ate as kids. She placed a mixed box on each table as a centerpiece. What an icebreaker for partygoers!

Well, that was the "Summer of Love" in San Francisco --the beginning of the counter-culture period, "hippies," etc. .. so you share a 40th birthday with that .
I'd assume anything "hippy-ish" would qualify.
