and since you use God, I'll say that it was a fruit that initiated "Sin" (the forbiden apple).
However I dont choose God as my reason to eat meat, I eat meat b/c the concentration of nutrients to mass is greater in a 8oz steak, then in the same 8oz size of tofu or other nutrient source food product.
Also, farmers cannot grow enough produce to feed everyone a "vegetarian only" diet and nothing but that. And on top of that, just the simple fact that nature will get out of balance if there is NOT some sort of predation against other species. (ie..ever notice why when all the wolves were killed off in the northern reaches the caribou and other ungulate species were weakened?) this is because wolves are a keystone species..that has little to do w/ your argument, but humans eating some sort of animal product is a necessity for many "environmentally sound reasons" I will however state that the way in which we treat "stock animals" is very in humane, which is why I'm willing to pay $20.00+ for an organically raised free range cow steak.
However, the amount to which some people do eat meat is a bit over the top. There can be a happy balance to all. Besides, if God (btw..I'm agnostic..) or evolution did not intend us to eat meat we would not have canine teeth nor incisors which are meant for shredding and tearing, rather we'd have a mouth full of molars which is what "vegetarian based species" have and are the teeth meant for mashing and grinding. So just from a scientific standpoint, we're omnivores, not just carnivores or herbivores..

Well, contrary to popular belief, I was not there in the garden of Eden so I can not say that they did or did not eat meat.
I do not believe there is any mention of any food eaten until the apple was eaten from the Tree of Life. If man was created in God's likeness then they had no appetite for food until the great sin. And God did put man over the fishes and fowl, etc.
I do not use God as an excuse to eat what I like. Just as I cannot use God as an excuse as to why I wear clothes.
Were Adam and Eve not naked until the great sin? Do you go without clothes everywhere you go? I have not noticed even one naked person in Wal Mart, at the Mall or even in a restaurant regardless of what they were eating.
So are nudist colonies inhabited only by vegetarians? Thoughts to ponder!
Well, even if I do not agree with your need to be a vegetarian, which is your right, just as it is my right to be a meat eater, at least you and the steak I am having for dinner tonight both have something in common.
It was a vegetarian, too!!

After reading all these answers, I know too well what you mean, but don't expect to receive a logical response.
Being vegan, I have been exposed to the most ridiculous responses and attacks, but who cares?
It is a choice, one does or does not eat eat. Some people are sensitive enough to answer in a polite way, others feel attacked and attack back. The response by one "lady" "shut up" goes too far....but did you expect anything else. This question provokes exactly the echo you did not want to get.
The fact that many answers about consuming meat are based on some pseudo-religious facts proves ignorance ans arrogance! Nothing else!
And as a response to "ah, animals are made out of meat, so we have to eat them" well, humans are made out of meat as well, right? :)

People use God as an excuse to do what ever it is they want to do.
After the flood, the vegetation was limited;therefore, God allowed man to eat certain of the animals that were considered clean. Now man continued with this even when the flood water had receded and there was room for vegetation to be as productive as before. The sacrifice of the flesh of the animals should have caused a repulsive attitude toward sin and the awful nature of sin so much so to remind man not to sin because as God is a god who can not lie-the wages of sin is death!
So the animal dies for atonement of the sin of man. This seemed to have become a habit instead of a deterrent. "Oh retched man that I am" That I would- I do not- that I would not do- that I do" paraphrased a little.
I had a friend who said that meat eaters will not inherit the kingdom.
She ate meat and excused it as she was weak and has to get off of it. Yet she cursed those who ate meat. Go figure(?)
We train our children to eat meat after we train them that God created the little bunny and it is so cute.
As a child, I watched the cartooned chicken and then to have a chicken prepared as a meal was quite devastaing until I got used to it and had gotten the taste in my mouth. Now as an adult, I am able to reason and it is harder to think of it as a means of food when there is another choice.
I will not condem anyone and or allow anyone to condem me for the choice I have made re: my eating habits, but I am reasonable and able to listen to anyones argument as to why not or why to and then come to my own conclusion as God has directed me or given me present knowledge in the matter. I had been vegan before and now I consume only particular fish as my meat once in a while (no shell fish and fish that has both scales and fins). Perhaps one day I will also be off of the fish completely.
Know that we all have different task and are on different levels and it is never reason to excuse what we do as God allowed me to do wrong because He is sinless and does not lie.
I hope your answer is some where in this reply (smile)

First of all there is a specific passage in the Bible where it says God intented some animals to be consumed by people.
Take the passage from 1 Timothy 4:1 – 4:5, “Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth. For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer".
If you're a literal believer in the Bible, that passage pretty much sums up the arguement that God intended us to eat meat. HOWEVER, there are also scientific reasons for eating meat that have nothing to do with religion. Meat contains vital nutrients the body needs that are almost impossible to find anywhere else in nature. Our bodies are designed to consume and digest meat... why else would humans have canine teeth? Really there is much more evidence back the consumption of meat than there is against it.
Unfortunately the real reason many people try to present arguements against eating meat is because they feel sorry for the animals, but that is an emotion, not a scientific arguement. These people don't realize that if humans stopped consuming meat, many ecosystems on our planet would become chaotic, as well as animals such as the beef cow would become extinct... they are not a wild animal and no one is going to pay to keep a species around when they can't profit from it.

As a meat eater I do not use God as an excuse to eat meat, even though I am a Christian.
Basically, things changed after Adam and Eve sinned and all sorts of bad things that didn't exist before came into being, such as war, famine, plagues etc.
In Genesis it does say that humans have authority over creation, but some believe that too changed when people first sinned and that the authority over nature and the elements are ruled over by the devil.
In summary, everything got flip-flopped because a dumb mistake.

in accordance to my information the two Islam and Christianity encourages eating meat, and so leads people in the direction of doing sin i'm afraid. (i do no longer desire to humiliate any concept or a faith acquaintances). count style the style of seen animals you notice in the prevalent existence pal... A single cave of ants ought to contain a great style of ants than the full human inhabitants as quickly as we evaluate the full style of animals in the international, the style of people in the international is negligible. yet very virtually all those animals and majority of people suffers from starvation, ailments, violation, lust, anger, hatred and loss of life etc.... A single flood or a fire kills an uncountable style of animals at as quickly as. the comparable occurs whilst they die because of the fact of starvation and climatic transformations (chilly and warm seasons) besides. Can a competent individual(or all and sundry) create animals(which comprise guy sort) to stand such sort of suffering and soreness....? So, it extremely is an issue of the existance of God/Allah, I'mafraid. Buddhism and Hinduism does not motivate meat intake, yet Hinduism encourages sacrifice of animals in great parts. So, after finding and questioning demanding(with an open concepts), i discovered in basic terms Buddhism nevertheless leads peopls to stroll in the organic course..., it extremely is my answer in the religious factor of vievw. returned, i do no longer desire to break any physique or in charge any concept. want you all could be nicely...

Yeah, My aunt had me read a part in the the bible where it said we are supposed to eat certain types of animals but I've been doing my own research and I do think its a sin to eat meat. I think it's a sin because when the world first started God gave us fruits to eat. As time went on i think that adams kid killed his brother (if that makes sense), Adam ate the apple, yada yada yada. I have to go so i can't make this too long, but I think god knew we were gonna disobey him, and I think he wanted to see who would love all his creatures, and who would eat them. I know in the bible it says something like God doesn't like when people hunt for sport, but it's ok to hunt for food. I mean, I believe that, but I honestly don't think we were supposed to eat meat at all. I also read about sacrificing animals, that's pretty bizarre and I don't see why God would have anyone do that, but I also read he said it's not necessary to do anymore, BUT he also had his own son, Jesus, sacrificed so maybe sacrificing animals were similiar. I kinda think at one time we were all fleas, and then we progress to ants, then pigs, then dogs, yada yada yada and progress to humans, but that's just my another one of my personal beliefs, I geuss we'll find out when we die.

I'd never use God as an argument for eating meat when the taste alone justifies it...that and the fact that if you accept (and if you don't we should be able to demote you a few levels) that we have evolved to be at the top of the food chain.....make use of it!
