my father, age 60, is hypertensive and has high serum cholesterol levels. we cant afford to go to the doctor again. i am worried that if these problems will not be controlled, he will be at risk for stroke. i've read that aspirin is an anticoagulant which is a prophylaxis for stroke. what dose does my father has to take everyday? thank you very much.

i know that aspirin should be taken with meals to prevent gastric irritation, but will there still be a risk of gastric bleeding even if my father takes aspirin with meals?

my father has renal disease so i think the DASH diet is not for him coz that advocates a high potassium regimen.

A baby aspirin would certainly be a good idea for him. The usual dose is one 81mg aspirin per day.

Having said that, you absolutely need to make it a family priority to get him real long term medical care. Either insurance or find a community free clinic of some kind. His problem is something that is not going to be easily fixed by asking questions on Yahoo Answers.

Good luck

To be simple I will my self recommend atleast 75mg of aspirin daily it will keep his blood thin, and prevent further clotting anywhere in the body. It acts as a good prophylaxis against clot formation, and regarding the potassium in diet it's safe.

Low sodium diet google "DASH diet" for blood pressure

Baby aspirin coated 81mg is ideal but regular 325 mg is cheaper and may cause more bleeding

Federal law demands hospitals treat you regardless of your ability to pay! Take him to your local ER and get him the treatment he requires! No human should ever have to suffer for inability to pay!
