i am 26 and i am 5'10"
last month i did a week long fast and detox for my colon then after my body was clean i went on a vegan diet
my weight at the beginning of Feb was 225 and now a little over a month i am down to 195
that is 30 pounds in one month
i am taking vitamins and i have just start exercising, i feel great and looking better everyday
what really kicked it in was the colon cleanse that i did before hand
but i have tried everything before that and my husband is in extremely good shape so
i was on a protein and low-fat diet at one point along with going to the gym everyday and i have gained so much weight because my body was turning the protein into fat and i could not burn it off fast enough
every one is different and even though this diet is hard as heck for me i stick to it
and it is paying off big time

I've tried many diets and couldn't make anything work. Since having my first child, I've been carrying around an extra 30 pounds. This diet just made sense and showed me that everything I was doing before was wrong and a waste of my time.

When you do a cleanse they give you a diet to follow and that diet suggest that you only eat fresh veggies, fruits, grains such as brown rice, quinoa, millet and pulses, nuts.

If you do the cleanse and stick to this healthy diet without cheating and watching your calories you will lose weight for sure and feel really great health wise too.

How long have you been a vegan,? it seems strange to me that you are a Vegan and still weigh 160 at 5 Ft 6 Inches.
I think you would be better off to consume less calories and get more exercise instead of doing the weird stuff, like detoxifying or fasting.

If you do a light detox, then give up all forms of wheat and sugar, you can lose 12-15 lbs. in six weeks.
Just remember that no wheat means NO wheat--no tortillas, rolls, breads, cereals, etc that contain wheat. Same for sugar. Fortunately, there are many good subs for wheat in the forms of rice cakes, brown rice breads like Mochi (HF store-delicious) Ezekiel bread, etc. For something sweet, you can have fruits or those rice syrup-sweetened rice crispie treats.

I dropped weight rapidly (unintentional) when I eliminated soy products from my diet. Adding in steamed or raw veggies in its place made a huge difference. I think eliminating chemical additives, dyes, etc. made a huge difference too. The human body is not equiped to process unnatural stuff, and stores it as fat. Good luck!
edit: there is no point doing a detox, unless you quit putting toxins in the body in the first place-not saying you do, just making a point

One thing you should do when you walk and hike is to tighten the muscles in your stomach. You will work them out while you are walking. It does work, since it is hard to do at first. If you can keep them tight for a whole walk then you'll see you've made progress, and you can find yourself doing it throughout the day.
