TOO much of ANYTHING isn't good.
But there are health benefits to eating spicy food. When it comes to each of our bodies.....we need to take our family history and our own personal history in to consideration as well. Check out the site below. I posted just a little of the info it provides.
Millions of people from many cultures from around the world enjoy the flavor and fire of hot foods.
After all, chiles are the second most common spices in the world, following salt.
Few people, however, realize the many health benefits that chile peppers offer.
A substance called capsaicin causes the heat of chiles and peppers. Capsaicin has been associated with many cures that include lowering blood pressure, reducing cholesterol and warding off strokes and heart attacks, speeding up metabolism, treating colds and fevers, preventing cancer and pain control. Capsaicin is a flavorless, odorless chemical concentrated in the veins of chiles and peppers.
Hot peppers inhibit the growth of H. Pylori, the bacteria that causes certain kinds of ulcers.

This is an old food myth. Spicy food is NOT the cause of stomach ulcers, usually bacteria H. pylori is the culprit.
But spicy food can aggravate an ulcer, that's why patients are told not to eat spicy food when they have an ulcer. Spicy foods also aggravate heartburn & acid reflux.
Also, curries do not cause nor prevent weight gain/loss. Unless of course, your curries are high fat (ghee, cream, butter, coconut...) and you eat them daily in large amounts.
Curry does have many beneficial effects.
Life is all about BALANCE: eat small portions and in moderation. Too much of anything is never good.

You are misinformed. A stomach ulcer has nothing to due with the spiciness of food. Spicy food could irritate an ulcer. Hot curries are not bad but actually good for you. Enjoy.

The only thing that it will cause is major heartburn as you progress along. Even then, just keep a bottle of tums around and try not to eat spicy foods a few hours before bed. That's just advice from my own personal experience. Of course, just like anything you're unsure of, ask your doctor about it. Good luck sweetie!

good for taste but not so good for your stomach, stomach has a lot of natural acid already and spicy food tends to produce more acid than necessary which may eat away your stomach lining , can cause ulcers yes and people get acid reflex sometimes, but on the good side, spicy food strengthens your immune system against viruses

Actually curries have many benefits including lower risk of cancer and better metabolism but overdoing the chilli part is dangerous since it does cause cancer - an Indian friend of mine in his 30s who enjoyed spicy food had surgery. So my tip is that you can enjoy Mexican, Thai and Indian spicy food, but keep the chili in moderation.

Stomach ulcers are caused by bacterial infection, NOT what you eat! His doctor is a quack; advise him to see a real one.
Actually, studies have found that people who have diets high in spicy foods have less incidences of colon cancer.
Eat up!

Spicy food actually speeds up metabolism a little, and is very good for the heart. If you are having stomach ulcer issues...drink milk, it coats the stomach.

Ulcers are exacerbated by spicy food, but not caused by it. They are caused by Helicobacter Pylori, and triggered by unbalanced diet, smoking, stress, and heavy drinking.
So, as long as your lifestyle is healthy overall, you can eat spicy food as much as you want.
