Is it true that cialis or viagra if taken during the period or together with atenolol or high blood medication is very dangerous. If cialis or viagra is to be taken then is it needed that atenolol has to be stopped altogether for safety during the period when cialis or viagra is in use or effective? What exactly is the danger and why? What is the process of causing danger to the user. Can the phenomenom be explained more comprehensively but briefly? Thanks to all.

Erectile dysfunction medications are incompatible with nitrates. These are the nitroglycerin that people take under their tongues for angina (chest pain). There are long acting nitrates that are sometimes used for blood pressure or chronic angina. A typical name is Imdur or Isosorbide Mononitrate. Nitrates and ED medications together cause drastic drops in blood pressure.

Atenolol is a beta blocker and should be okay with ED medications without necessitating any interval between.

Lastly I might add that no one NEEDS to take ED medications. It is most certainly a lifestyle medication. Therefore if you perceive that you are taking a risk by using these medications, then don't...and consider other options.

Addendum: Alpha blocker medications and calcium channel blocker medications POTENTIALLY can cause lower blood pressure but do not interact as a nitrate most definitely will.

Very rare risk of stroke and heart attack have been associated with the use of ED medications. Having a history of stroke or heart attacks is NOT, however, a contraindication for taking the medication.

By lifestyle medication, I am stating that ED medication is not absolutely necessary (and there are alternative treatment options) - failure to take ED medication causes no harm and does not result in progression of disease - there are very few prescription medications that you could say the same thing -and therefore it is not so controversial.

Good luck.

Its a difficult question to answer with the information you have provided. It is very important to know why are you taking Atenolol and what other medical problems do you have.
I would strongly suggest to consult your doctor before starting the medications.

Let me tell something abt these ED meds and explain you why its a difficult Q to answer.
The ED meds MUST NOT be taken if you have history of stroke, angina or heart-attack (myocardial infarction). Because often patients of heart attack receive beta-blockers (atenolol falls in the category of beta-blockers), it is importnat to why are you on atenolol.

Otherwise ED drugs doesn't seem to cause any problem if taken with beta-blockers.

Sildenafil (viagra) do have negative effects if taken with any of following blood pressure meds:
-Nitrates (prescribed more often for angina)
-Amlodipine
-Nicorandil
-Alpha blockers such as alfuzosin (Uroxatral), doxazosin (Cardura), prazosin (Minipress), tamsulosin (Flomax), and terazosin (Hytrin) etc.

Can cause dangerously low BP, if taken with any of the above meds.

ED drugs should be avoided if someone has low blood-pressure. So if you are taking high BP drug, make sure sure you are taking it in appropriate dose and get your BP checked regularly to make sure it is not unusually low.

Its a controversial issue to discuss if we should call the ED drugs as 'lifestyle drugs' or an important medication for a very common health problem. I would rather leave it on the patients to decide!!

Again I must remind you to discuss with your doctor in detail before starting any of the ED meds.

Cheers!

Male sexual arousal is a complex process that involves the brain, hormones, emotions, nerves, muscles and blood vessels. To solve the erectile dysfunction i suggest to check this natural method https://tr.im/uuQBU .
Erectile dysfunction can result from a problem with any of these. Likewise, stress and mental health problems can cause or worsen erectile dysfunction. Sometimes a combination of physical and psychological issues causes erectile dysfunction. For instance, a minor physical problem that slows your sexual response may cause anxiety about maintaining an erection. The resulting anxiety can lead to or worsen erectile dysfunction.
