i went ot the dr today and he said it was just a random virus or whatever, and not like pnuemonia or anything, and he gave me prescription cough syrup that has codeine in it and i think some other stuff too but i don't know what. only i'm still coughing a lot, like as in most of the time there's not even a whole minute between when i stop coughing and when i start again.

i took 2 tsp of the prescrition stuff, which said to take 1.5 to 2 tsp, and it didn't help at all. yesterday i took 3 tsp of robitussin (it says to take 2 tsp) and that didn't help either. can i take another tsp of the prescription one? can i take both at once? what else can i do?

Never mix medications.

Talk to your doctor about a higher dose or stronger medication.

Cough drops can help in combination with the medication if you are coughing from a scratchy throat.

Go and see a Chinese doctor about that, they have this ANMAZING cough syrup. I had bronchitis and was coughing terribly, could not sleep or anything. She gave me a liquid, told me to not drinkk or eat cold stuff for a week while drinking the meds. Whereas a Western medication would have taken a week, within three days there was no trace of a cough. I looked up everything in the liquid, it was othing but herbs. Good luck & hope you feel better.

Try drinking warm water to sooth ;your throat when you feel like coughing.

I just recovered from a bad cough and I thought I had some bad sickness.

After taking some anti-biotic and cough syrup, the cough was under control. I guess my body took over after that to a complete recovery.

Take fresh food to help your body to fight the sickness and go for a stroll. Don't stay in your bed or your room all the time.

Wish you a speedy recovery.

Either talk to your current doc about your medication.. Maybe you need to change your medication or increase the dose ( ALWAYS ASK THE DOC FIRST!!)
second option is to see another doc about it and get a second opinon.
Try to have allot of warm liquids like water , tea aviod coffee.
Steam inhallation helps your air passage and gets all the yucky stuff out too..
before going to bed have a glass of warm water and try to aviod the cold weather or air conditions and etc
hope that helps

Coughing is caused by itchiness in your throat. Gargle with warm salt water and drink a mouthful. Don't put too much salt. Just enough salt to taste a little salty.

Nice to see you again. I haven't seen you for a long time. I was worried. Do what your doctor says and talk to him about your other problem.

You can't expect medicine to start working right away. You have to give it time.
