This is the 2nd time it happened to me from using Blistex "Medicated Berry with SPF15". The first time I had this problem (redness->red swollen lips, painful cracks in corners), I only just arrived in Canada, and started to use this to protect my lips against the dry climate. Didn't make the connection then that it might be Blistex that was causing this. I kept reapplying it for days, and the situation only got worse. Went to see the college nurse, who "prescribed" me another type of Blistex, this time the green medicated one. Didn't work out. Still extremely painfully cracked, swollen lips. I could hardly talk, couldn't smile, could only eat tiny pieces of food. Went on for 3 weeks(!!!), till I finally gave up on Blistex and used petroleum jelly (vaseline). After a few days, my lips started to heal again. I used Blistex again 2 days ago, and got the same sitation and made the connection, so stopped immediately. Now, back to using vaseline again. Anyone also got this problem b4?

I used "Mentolatum," a vaseline-based cream that has menthol in it. I've used this, and my lips have healed now. So, it's definitely not the menthol I'm allergic to. Must be something else in Blistex. But since I'm allergic to somthing in Blistex, I'm pretty sure there are people out there who are as well.

Have you ever used a regular, mint, or other Blistex? My guess is that it is the berry flavor/scent that is doing it to your lips. You're probably allergic to one of the artificial berry ingredients.

I have used Blistex for many years and never had a problem. In fact, it is the first thing I go for when I get chapped lips. You must have an allergy to some ingredient in that product. Vaseline has many good lip products so stick with that. be sure your doctor knows about the allergy because it could be to the menthol in it and other preparations have the same ingredients. Keep the tube of blistex for comparison of ingredients if you are trying another product. Hope this helps.

You are allergic to one of the ingredients in blistex so stay away from this product. Be sure to mention this to your doc the next time you go in so he makes a note of it on your chart.

I use Blistex ointment daily, it keeps my lips really soft. Maybe you are allergic to something in there.

Hello....., You are allergic to it. Stop using the damn thing already. You might want to call the company and talk to someone who can do something for you. I personally don't think it's supposed to do that.
