While the "survival rate" is 80% after one year, the quality of one's life during that year varies greatly from person to person. The fact that someone is still "alive" for statistical purposes is a lot different from someone actually being alive and productive.

Cystic Fibrosis the adult was lucky to have got to be an adult the double lung transplant should be ok with care for a few years without trouble.

I think it's greatly improved after a lung transplant. My brother in law died from CF while he was still on the transplant list. But CF causes lots of other probs like diabetes & kidney failure. Hopefully there will be cure in our lifetime.
