All prisoners have a right to medical care as long as they follow their care plan.

The care of a prisoner in a Tennessee state prison is under the complete discretion of the attending physician who serves at the pleasure of the warden. A prisoner is not guaranteed to more the most basic of care, certainly no extraordinary care. Of course it is likely more care than most inmates would receive in the free world, where many would be uninsured.

i worked in texas correctional institute for ten years and yes but it depends on the severity of his condition, anytime we have an inmate complaining of chest pains he is immediately sent to the infirmary for ekg and etc. if it is a constant problem or needs attention we send the inmate to the hospital for evaluation from there a doc takes over and if he is sent back to the unit it is usually with medication and restrictions i have never seen an inmate monitored at the unit

No matter what state it is in, the person always has a right if they have a medical condition. If they do not get the person the required treatment, the person with the condition could sue.
