thanks to all those people who gave me good advice i did go open a checking account and i'm getting 2 credit cards coming in 4-7 days thankyou very much

NO... you don't need a checking account to get a credit card. All that really matters is your credit score.

Do you already have some established credit? If not, you'll have to settle for a credit card designed for people with poor / no credit. These cards tend to have higher interest rates and fees when compared to standard credit cards, but they'll allow you to prove your creditworthiness and help build your credit.
