A balanced diet for people with diabetes is just like a balanced diet for any healthy adult.
The lunch you mentioned was just fine.

Here are some other ideas:
#1- A salad with loads of veggies [ 1/2 cup = one serving] with some tuna or chicken [ 2-4 oz] and 2 oz garbanzo beans.
Salad dressing.
a piece of fruit.
#2-Veggie soup,grapes and a couple of small cookies .
#3-A sandwich- 2 pieces of bread,2-4 oz protein ,lettuce, tomato, onion and a bit of mayo.A piece of fruit.

I think that should give you the idea.
Good luck.

If your dad is a controlled diabetic, meaning he has had consistently good A1c's then there are no foods that are off limits. Take the case of white foods i.e., potatoes, pastas, rice and breads, there are perfectly good alternatives to these, as red potatoes, whole grain pastas, brown rice and brown breads. If you noticed, these foods all have a higher fiber content, fiber slows down the absorption of glucose into the body's system and causes glucose values to rise and fall more gradually rather than spike and fall quickly. It's mostly about portion size and time periods in between meals, he'll be better off eating 3-5 smaller meals per day. But back to your question, we could sit here all day and come up with recipes and ideas that will be good for your dad but it's easier for you to google them. p.s. Make sure he gets enough exercise, takes his meds and have an A1c test every 3 months. He also needs to test his sugars regularly so he'll know which foods are causing his glucose levels to rise and which ones are keeping them close to normal.

I am writing to tell you what an incredible impact these methods had on my life! I have had type 2 diabetes for 27 years. For me, the worst part of this horrible disease is the severe pain I constantly get in my feet. The pain is so bad that I avoid standing and walking as much as possible. I've got to tell you that within the first month, my feet stopped hurting altogether and I can now walk totally pain free.

Believe it or not, I even danced at my niece's wedding last month, something I have not done in a many years. I've been following the book for six months now and my blood sugar is well within normal range. I feel great!

I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.

the one thing that jumped out at me was the chicken and the cottage cheese are both in the meat group. The cheese is a protein. But I eat like that sometimes too, i'm a type 1 diabetic.
