The Hormel product, not the e-mail version which I think tastes kinda different.

Sounds like some of you had a can or two handy!
With such spirited responses, I think it's only fair to put it to a vote.

I tried it last summer while camping with a bunch of people. Someone was frying slices in bacon grease.

It tastes just like salty ham, or "breakfast ham," but the texture is kinda like the meat in Lunchables. I wouldn't eat the stuff, but it's not like it's so gross that trying it will make you gag or anything.

There's no way it's good for you though, because I saw someone toss a "block" of it over their shoulder, and it bounces. No joke. I will never get the image of bounsing SPAM out of my mind, lol.

Tastes like salty ham to me. I always turned my nose up at it, but a few years ago, I went to the Taste of Detroit food festival and the spam mobile was there. Against my better judgment, I went up and had a "spamburger." OMG. To this day, I still buy a can every few months. :)

Fry slices of spam in a tiny bit of butter. Place on a hamburger bun that's got a coating of mayo on it, top with cheese, a slice of tomato and iceberg lettuce and you're set!

Gross .... it tastes like a straight dose of salt, and smells like dog food.

What makes you a bit queasy is the nutritional labeling on the side of the can. A single serving--two thin slices--contains 30 percent of your daily saturated-fat quota, 31 percent of your sodium, and 13 percent of your cholesterol. If people ate Spam exclusively we'd solve the Social Security crisis in a generation. Nobody would live long enough to collect.

It's about as good for your health, as eating a pound of salted lard. :(

BTW: rotflmao ... @ Jess!! VVVVVV

SPAM is a mystery and it doesn't necessarily taste bad....It's salty mystery meat that doesn't have much of a flavor at all lol. And it is probably bad for you. With that said, steal a can of spam from one of your strange friend's houses and put some of it between two pieces of white breat and throw some frank's hot sauce on that sucka and you are ready to go. Do what you gotta do lol.

Mystery meat goodness. Kinda hammy, but not really. It's best fried up in a pan so it gets a little cripsy on the outside, served w/ some eggs. Spam is a bit too salty for me, but to have once in a blue moon, I don't really care.

Very salty ham. My husband really likes it cut between 1/4" and 1/8" and fried until very crispy brown. I don't care for it, but I tried the Turkey Spam and it actually tastes like roasted turkey - although salty, too.
