I am a vegetarian. I do so primarily for ethical and moral reasons, I don't see a reason to take a life for my food when there are plenty of edible fruits and vegetables ripe for the taking. It takes ten pounds of plants fed to an animal to produce one pound of meat, I see this as inefficient. I couldn't drive by the countryside in my town and look at all the baby calves with their mothers and still eat meat. Also, it has been suggested that the human body is better suited for eating a plant-based diet. Heart disease and attack is practically eliminated, and lifespans are much longer.

I focus a lot on Asian cooking. Rice, sometimes noodles, cooked with tofu and fresh vegetables. Tofu is actually quite tasty in cooking. Other times I will eat sub sandwiches full of lettuce, tomato, peppers, olives and shredded carrot. When I eat out, I seek veggie burgers, garden fresh pizzas and sometimes Italian food like pasta salad and spaghetti marinara. For snack I eat peaches, pear and strawberries. From time to time I have a junk food craving and eat tortilla chips and french fries cooked in vegetable oil. I don't really like candy or dessert, but a slice of chocolate cake once in a blue moon isn't off limits.

If you decide to become vegetarian, you'll find that the variety in your diet will multiply ten-fold. You'll seek out all kinds of new tastes and textures that weren't as open to you when you consumed a meat-based diet. If you ever try to eat meat again, it will probably seem tasteless and almost dead. Life is better and you'll feel better on a plant-based diet.

The only thing to be careful of, you need to make sure you have a good source of protein. I use soy and tofu for this. Also, there are little things like folic acid that can be attained from eating flax seed mixed in with things like pasta or brownies.

If you ever find yourself missing your old meat favorites, Boca and Morningstar Farms products can be found in your grocer's freezer section. They have veggie burger patties, mock chicken nuggets, imitation ground beef and veggie hot dogs that are delicious. One of my favorite things to keep in my freezer are Amy's Kitchen products, from the organic section. They only carry vegetarian items and it's all produced naturally. Check out www.amyskitchen.com

I am not a Vegetarian, but I do tend to eat a lot of vegetarian meals. The key to being a vegetarian is obvious Eat a lot of veggies and don't eat meat. You can actually eat tons of thing, I have veggie enchiladas all the time. My Grandma is a vegetarian, but she will sometimes eat fish. The most important thing for someone is is a vegetarian is eating things that will substitute for certain thing that you get from meat. if you don't eat the right things to keep your body in proper health you will have problems. Protein is very important, so eat nuts and other things that have protein that isn't meat. Try going to a vegetarian website for more info. You can even go talk to a nutritionist. It is a very good diet though. I probably need to cut down on my meat intake more than I already have. Once again Protein is very important. Silk is a very good soy milk.

most [if not all] of the factory farms that *most* animals are raised in
arent treated fairly or humanely before they are slaughtered.

I've never liked the idea of eating another animal. I love animals and never want anyone to suffer. No creature deserves to be treated like they do. The things that happen to the animals are much worse then the most horrific of slasher films. They are treated as things and not living beings. Who are we to say that one speices is better then another.

meals:
well I love pancakes, bannanas, clemintines, oatmeal, salad, olives, mushrooms, blueberries(espeically on my pancakes), waffles, applesauce, bread(it's like cake to me), veggie and soy burgers, vegatable fajitas, beans, strawberries, yogurt(light&fit, I eat them for desert), grits, eggplant(not parm.), pasta, thin crust pizza(my favorite), and so on.

my diet is actually much healthier since I went off meat and I feel (and look) better too!!!!!!!
