maybe with a little training, so they will know who to shoot at. This would alleiviate the overcrowding in our jails and prisons.

I appreciate everyone's answers up to this point but, most of you are missing exactly what I was aiming for. I'm thinking that Chuck_ju kinda has the idea that I have in mind. I don't care for hippies either, so that may give you an idea, from what era I come from, military wise.

A better idea would be to use the gangbangers as bombs and drop them all over the area...say from about 10,000 feet.

No,criminals just do not have the discipline to be professional soldiers. Because they lack discipline they will not follow orders right and will get themselves and others killed.
Loyalty would also be a major issue. When you're in the combat zone you're depending on everyone else in your sqaud or platoon to get the job done and most criminals have a me first **** everyone else mentality. That's how they rationalize commiting the crimes they do. Not exactly the kind of person you want to be depending on.
Many criminals are already suffering from severe mental illnesses which would only be exascerbated by a combat enviroment.
In all bad idea.

Have you ever met any soldiers who used to be or are still gangbangers? They don't make good soldiers, they're disrespectful towards their NCOs and COs, they're LAZY, they usually get kicked out for something stupid (like drug dealing or using)...
So again, NO. And what happens if a Blood and a Crip both wind up in Iraq together, in the same unit? It's awfully idealistic to think that they wouldn't shoot each other.

Most of them are cowards, thats why they don't stand eachother off. They driveby shoot like little pu$$ies. They would cut and run when things got hairy. Would you depend on a gangbanger to cover you in a heated firefight?

Sure we'll get all the violent criminals on a bus and bring them to you on the rifle range for training and give them guns and live ammo and let you try to get them to leave the country to go into a combat zone. Is your will in order? Sheesh
