Alcohol can cause either low or high blood glucose, depending upon the amount of alcohol consumed, .
A moderate intake of alcohol may lower blood pressure and decrease the risk of coronary artery disease and stroke. However, excessive use of alcohol can increase the risk of neuralgic and liver disease and high blood pressure.

Quitting smoking is one of the most important things a person can do to improve their health.

Smokers with diabetes have an increased risk of the following:

* Death, especially from heart attacks and strokes
* High "bad" cholesterol levels
* Worsened blood glucose controlled, compared to non-smokers
* Neuralgic complications from diabetes
* Kidney disease leading to dialysis

I am writing to tell you what an incredible impact these methods had on my life! I have had type 2 diabetes for 27 years. For me, the worst part of this horrible disease is the severe pain I constantly get in my feet. The pain is so bad that I avoid standing and walking as much as possible. I've got to tell you that within the first month, my feet stopped hurting altogether and I can now walk totally pain free.

Believe it or not, I even danced at my niece's wedding last month, something I have not done in a many years. I've been following the book for six months now and my blood sugar is well within normal range. I feel great!

I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.

You'll hear all kinds of answers on the drinking, I'm sure and I'm fairly certain that you must be kidding. It is NEVER safe for ANYONE to smoke, especially people with chronic conditions such as diabetes. As far as my doctor is concerned, diabetics shouldn't be drinking (alcohol) either, but this subject is open to debate. I know that my meds say right on the bottle "do not drink alcohol while taking this medicine".

Drinking, I don't know, although I do know that it's unsafe to drink if you take Metformin (a.k.a. Glucophage). As for smoking, diabetics are already at risk for circulation problems and heart disease. Smoking contributes to both. So no, smoking is not safe for diabetics. (Smoking is not safe for anyone, anyway.)

Smoking is not good or safe for anyone.WE can all agree on that.

Alcohol LOWERS blood sugar levels, unlike what the nurse had to say.

Many adults enjoy drinking .Always keep a tab on your sugar levels and eat when you drink to avoid a very low sugar.
Moderate drinking is just fine.Excessive drinking is not good for anyone.

Absolutely not! Either one or both will cause complications with diabetes. Smoking constricts blood vessels and neuropathy is a big concern for diabetics even without smoking, and alcohol significantly raises blood sugar levels.
Go to www.webmd.com and find all the answers you need for diabetes.
Diabetics really need to be educated as to how it affects their body and what they can do to control the disease to maintain good health.

not really. a diabetic is at higher risk of clogged arteries, something which smoking contributes to.
drinking well, alcohol is so high in carbs that sometimes just two drinks will put you over the limit for the day. as well as many of the oral meds interact with alcohol.

its never to safe to drink or smoke.

excessive drinking leads to cirrosis/scarring of the liver. it also damages brain cells.

smoking ruins your lungs. its decreases its ability to efficiently use the oxygen you breathe. so you get less oxygen. not a good thing. and besides, it gives you an ashy mouth, stinky breath, and yellow teeth.
