In pregnant women, there is some evidence that untreated chlamydial infections can lead to premature delivery. Babies who are born to infected mothers can get chlamydial infections in their eyes and respiratory tracts. Chlamydia is a leading cause of early infant pneumonia and conjunctivitis (pink eye) in newborns.

Complications in pregnant women include:

Pregnancy outside the uterus (ectopic, or tubal, pregnancy).
Miscarriage.
Preterm labor.
Premature rupture of the membranes (PROM).
Complications in newborns include:

Premature delivery. A premature infant has an increased risk of health problems.
Inflammation of the surface of the eyes and the lining of the eyelids (conjunctivitis). About one-half of newborns who have chlamydia get conjunctivitis.
Infection of the nose and throat.
Lung infections, such as pneumonia.
Ear infection (otitis media).
Urethritis, though this is very rare in infants.

Since it can cause sterility Im assuming at some point it could possibly hurt a child...its not really good to have any type of PID while pregnant. I would suggest going to your local public health department and being screened and that way they can treat you accordingly. The clap is too easy to treat with antiobiotics now to be putting yourself at risk...and be sure to insist that your partner be treated as well...no point in treating yourself if youre just going to get it again. The public health department and usually planned parenthood go by a sliding fee scale so there is a good chance youll get your treatment for free and if you happen to be a minor they will treat you regardless of parental consent.

it can at birth if untreated. if you have a vaginal birth which your care provider wont allow if you are still infected. if delivered through a birth canal of an infecte dmother the virus can be passed to teh child during delivery and the disease or virus attacks the new borns eyes. that is why if untreated you will have a c- section to minimize the chances of things being passed. other than that im not sure about it harming teh baby in any other way. talk to your doc. dont be embarassed or nervous. its your health. and your babies

yes, it can cause blindness in the child and other health problems. If you let it go untreated you can become sterile.
