It will go away on its own but this can take a LONG time. It can take several weeks and even months for a herpes outbreak to go away without any medication.

Penicillin, like you said, will have NO effect. Penicillin only cures bacterial infections. Herpes is a viral infection and needs anti-viral medication to help with the outbreak.

She really should see a doctor, especially if she is in a lot of pain. Who wants to be in pain? Especially with a sensitive area like the genital area.

If it is genital herpes then there is nothing she can do. The first attack is very painful and last for anything up to 10 to 12 days. There are things you can take that can help prevent the frequency of attacks in the future such as L-Lysine which is an amino acid. Genital Herpes is something that once you have it , it is with you for life but can be controlled to a point.

I am absolutely terrified and I feel so alone. I just found out last week that I tested positive for hsv1 and 2. I have been with the same man for the past 10 years and within the last year found out that he has cheated on me with numerous women. I am so scared that I can give it to my children by kissing them and them eating with me...I feel like my whole life has changed. And even though the nurses, my doctor, and websites say that a lot of people have it I still feel like I am by myself. My self esteem has dropped and I feel like I have been used up. But now, My life is very happy.

She should go to the doctor and see about what it really is. If it is indeed herpes, it`ll be life long. She can get anti virals to help decrease the frequency of the outbreaks and the severity...Penicillian will only cause drug resistance, you can`t use antibiotics for a viral infection.
