It seems such a waste to throw it away.

Contact the maker via their website, the will send you a return envelope and they will refurbish it and send it to an under developed country. Also keep your boxes from your testing strips, Ascensia products will supply 1 box of testing strips to an under developed country for each 5 box tops you send them!
Never throw a used meter in the bin anyway. You can take it to a pharmacy for disposal.

With the newer types of insulin these days, diabetic diets aren't necessarily as restrictive as they used to be. Read here https://tr.im/bAhoA
As with any medicine or diet change, you should discuss it with your doctor. Fruits, both fresh and dried, have a natural sugar in them that will raise blood sugar levels, so be careful about eating too much. Not sure about the nuts. Moderation is always the key. I've been diabetic for 18 years and just recently changed insulin types. I love it because it gives me more freedom in when and what I eat.

I'm going to answer this by turning the question around: Can your blood sugars get high because you are angry? I do this because you, like just about everyone I suspect, test your sugars AFTER you get angry. I mean, there's no real reason to test before the event, right? So the cause-and-effect argument gets oversimplified. And you already know that high stress levels are likely to raise your sugar levels.

Yes many ways....just watch the web...my sister just traded in her old machines for new ones for free from one manufacturer because of a campaign its just knowing where to look. it varies on whether or not some organizations will take them used since it has been in contact with biohazards I would call around to see what the charities in your area say before wasting a trip around town. Lifetouch seems to be the best with replacing/upgrading old machines.
