A newer product was brought to my attention last year by my
CVS pharmacist. Liquid cough medicines were not working
on a non-stop deep cough. I only buy MUCINEX DM now.
It only requires 2 pills twice a day, and one pill twice in 24
hours as cough lessens. It comes in 24 or 40 per box and
is in most supermarkets as well. If your cough is persistent,
it may require a doctor visit for an antibiotic to clear what
may be a respiratory infection. Mucinex is stronger than
bottled cough medicine. You will see the difference!

Sore Throat Spray, name brand or generic, is instant relief.
It is both antiseptic and analgesic. I cannot handle pain!

A cough and sore throat should not keep you home from school. There is no best cough syrup as most are not really effective. You best bet is to get some hard candy to suck on to help your cough. If you really want cough syrup then Robitussin or Delsym are the better choices. Do not let a cough and sore throat keep you out of school though.

I've had good luck with Mucinex DM. Its in tablet form so you don't need to gag down that nasty tasting syrup.
