actually, the chance of you getting infected with HIV after one stick from an HIV postive needle are 1%. This is a statistic used in hospital settings. Your chances are 3% for hepatitis C from a hep C positive person.

it might depend on how deep the needle went in. and if the person bled at all. if the person bled, then the needle made contact with the blood stream, and they could have been infected. i would call a nurse hotline or something close to it.
