No. HIV is transmitted by bodily fluids and by sex (there are other ways too like childbirth and sharing needles and syringes).

HIV is NOT transmitted by just everyday contact with someone who has the virus. You could shake someones hand for an hour and not become infected with HIV. Every day common things like a handshake, hugging, high fiving, etc will NOT spread HIV.

Even if you scratched a wound and then started bleeding you would not get HIV because you had no bodily fluid contact with this person. All you had was skin contact which does NOT spread HIV.

HIV is ONLY spread by:
1. Sex (vaginal, oral and anal)
2. Childbirth (mother to infant transmission)
3. Sharing a needle and syringe with an HIV infected person
4. Blood transfusions (less common today as opposed to the 80s when scientists didn't know as much about the virus)

only if that person has an open wound and is bleeding. it's called fluid transfer. if you shake their hand, and then scratch a cut, you shouldn't get hiv. not even kissing them will give it to you.

No, you can not get it from a handshake. The virus that causes AIDS can not survive on a dry surface. Without fluid it dies very quickly. Even if someone is HIV - positive, he or she will not have any HIV viruses on the palm.
