No. HIV is transmitted by bodily fluids and by sex (there are other ways too like childbirth and sharing needles and syringes).
HIV is NOT transmitted by just everyday contact with someone who has the virus. You could shake someones hand for an hour and not become infected with HIV. Every day common things like a handshake, hugging, high fiving, etc will NOT spread HIV.
Even if you scratched a wound and then started bleeding you would not get HIV because you had no bodily fluid contact with this person. All you had was skin contact which does NOT spread HIV.
HIV is ONLY spread by:
1. Sex (vaginal, oral and anal)
2. Childbirth (mother to infant transmission)
3. Sharing a needle and syringe with an HIV infected person
4. Blood transfusions (less common today as opposed to the 80s when scientists didn't know as much about the virus)

Everyone who is stating it has got to be blood on blood contact is right...you can't get HIV from shaking hands and then scratching a cut on your hand. HIV tests won't show positive for up to 6 months though...so while I don't think you have a reason to worry, wait 6 months and then go get tested. Just to ease your mind all the more. You'll be fine.

no you do not have HIV. HIV can only be passed through sex, using the same infected needle for drugs or a tattoo, and from sharing razors with infected people. the shaking of hands does not pass any blood from him to you and there are no fluids from the genital areas. the virus is in your friends body and not on the outside, therefore if he shakes your hand no viruses are left on your hand. so don't worry you are still good. you can even hug your friend and you will be totally safe.

For all of my friends, we greet each other with hugs. With me close friends, it is a hug and a kiss on the cheek. When I meet new adults it is usually a hand shake but when I meet adults who I have known for a while it is either a hug or an air kiss, which is what every one does in the area I live in.

The only way it would have transfered would be if he/she was bleeding as well and the blood came in contact with eachother. If your worried get your mouth swabbed to ease your fears!

I believe it has to be blood touching blood. I'm almost 100 percent positive you don't have it. But i know your gonna probably have to get it checked out before the concern starts driving you crazy.
Its good to get checked out anyway.
