i dont really know about the country, and do they allow GM foods. and if you get patatoes from their country is it non-genetically modified.

in Chile, 58.5 percent of consumers prefer foods that have not been genetically modified, according to a survey by Ipsos polling firm in 2005.

even though french and belgians fight each other on who actually invented french fries --or begian fries for that matter, potatoes are originally from chile, so we dont need to gm our potatoes!
other than that we in chile dont have the same debate as europes on gm foods. id say it doesnt even exist. does he govt allow them? as long as they comply with sanitary rules in place, yeah!
now, typically the debate on gm foods is an issue only where any kind of food is imported, like europe. chile is a net exporter of food and no, it doesnt gm the food it exports.
