This person had a old cut that had his dried blood on. I accidently rubbed my hand against his and I found that some of the dried blood was on my hands. My skin that touched him was undamaged however slightly dry. Would I have got hiv from that?

later i put cream and vaseline on- does that increase the risk?

because cream goes into you skin to moist it so it might carry the hiv with it into my skin.
is that just my imagination?

Don't worry about it. When blood dries, HIV is no longer effective. The three main transmission routes for HIV infection are: 1) sex, 2) intervenous drug use and 3) from birth mother to newborn. I am a little surprised this person wouldn't wash his hand. It's kinda dirty.

HIV is short lived outside the body, unlike hepatitis viruses. Extrely unlikely that there would be any live virus in this old healing cut. Your hand was intact. RElax
You can shake hands with all HIV people on the planet and not get infected. You should check the excellent book by Paul Volberding THE AIDS KNOWLEDGE BASE Publisher Lippincott... I beleive that it should be in every high school library.

do not irritate yourself. Dried blood means even this person has HIV virus, the virus are dead already in dry blood. They can't survive long in the air and once the blood is dried, the virus are died. Moreover your skin was undamaged, no wound, no sore, no cut, so that no worries.
1.HIV infected mostly by sexual activities in our society.
Sexual intercourse, oral (someone who has cut, wound and sore inside the mouth and swallow or let *** inside the mouth), open wound to open wound, blood to the open wound or cut or sore.
2. HIV infected needles into your body or skin or blood vessels.
Sharing needles or by accidents. Sharing razor blades, toothbrush are also dangerous and possible to infect HIV!
3. Mother to the child.
including breastfeeding.
4.Blood transfusions.

NO.
You need not worry. The HIV does not survive well outside the body, so if the blood was dry then its not possible for you to have got it. Also if you did not have an open cut on your hand.

HIGHLY unlikely...

The transmission rate from a puncture by an infected needle is only around 10%. In your case it didn't get through the skin, making the really really really unlikely to have been passed along.
