Friday the 13th theme birthday party (not the movie) any suggestions for decor, food, ect.?

I've already asked the invited to wear all black and I'm hoping to set up mirrors that I've "broken" with a sharpie or other mirror friendly marker. I'm planning on lots of 13s and black cats. What else can I do to play up superstitions?

the mirror idea is very good, how about having tall ladders at the doorways for everyone to walk under. open umbrellas, hats on tables, spilled salt, etc. sounds like fun! =)

That is a cute idea....try playing creepy music in the background.......and try placing some of the food or treats under a ladder where people have to reach under there to get to them. You could also try placing clusters of black balloons all around the table. I know its not like the movie...but for decoration you could stuff mans clothes with pillows on your sofa in your home and place a hockey mask to give them that "oh this is a Friday the 13th theme"...believe me there is some people that won't get the broken mirror and cats, and ladders.......for the slower friends of ours. Also you could try placing a sign pointing down at a crack in the floor saying "Don't step on this crack and break your mothers back"....corny...but adds to the Friday the 13th theme. Sorry hope this helps some......

go and get sheets of Styrofoam from The Home Depot (fairly cheap) cut out tombstones...you know you aren't supposed to walk across a grave. Set up a ladder in front of the door for people to walk under. You could have tipped over salt shakers on your buffet table. Open umbrellas sitting out as decorations. Background noise could be a dog howling...or an owl hooting 3 times in a row. You could also have bells ringing to ward off evil spirits. Hope some of this helps.
