It's possible. Cold sores usually affect the outside of the lips and the corners of the mouth though.
It's probably most likely a canker sore (ulcer). These can appear on a persons tongue, inside the lips and cheeks.
Have you ever been tested for herpes? If not, it wouldn't be a bad idea. It's just a simple blood test and you get the results back usually within a couple days.
Good luck!

Herpes are on the outside of the mouth. Ulcers are on the inside of the mouth. It is a common misconception that you can get herpes on the inside of your mouth but I was told by more than one doctor that you can't. If you are doing unsafe activities it could be a symptom of an STD such as syphilis but if you are safe then I wouldn't worry too much about it. I hope this helps.

possibly but commonly, herpes is on the lips and outside the mouth, not inside. Most people confuse cold sores and ulcers. If it on inside, it is ulcer.

Yes, you can get Herpes on the inside of your lip. You can get it on your inner cheeks and tongue as well. Most oral herpes lesions will hurt a bit if you touch them, but not always.
Oral herpes can be contracted in a number of ways, but most commonly through saliva (kiss, sharing a water glass, etc.).
