Someone I know has these warts, and is in the process of removing them. Will he/she still be able to spread them once there is no visible evidence that they were there?

Of course. You can pass it on to your partner even if you aren't having an outbreak. You should NEVER have sex without a condom.

Just because a person has genital warts removed doesn't mean they got rid of the virus that causes them - HPV.

The warts may be physically gone, but the person STILL has HPV and is STILL able to spread it to someone else. There is NO cure for HPV. Fortunately, for most women, they are able to get rid of it on their own. Their bodies basically "fight it off". Not ALL women get rid of the virus though, some people will have it the rest of their life. And, even if a person gets rid of the virus, they are still able to contract it again. Since there is no test for men to detect HPV it is basically impossible for them to know if their bodies have gotten rid of the virus.

Yes. However, your viral shedding may be reduced. DO where protection, however, in any situation.

edit for the person below me:
It is NOT in your blood. It attacks the basal layer of epidermal and epithelial tissue and it is highly likely your immune system will eventually clear it.

first and foremost...the virus is still in your blood and you will have it forever. second..yes... even though you are unactive you can still give it to someone.. you must use a condom everytime.. and tell your partner that you have it.
