More info about your health and medications would be helpful. Impotence can be caused by blood pressure medications, high blood pressure, diabetes, stress, hormone imbalances (yes, men get those too!), injury and also plaquing in the arteries. I hate to say this, but the first sign of impending problems with some of our cardiac patients was impotence. I don't mean to scare you, but you didn't give much info to go on. You do need to see your doc and have an evaluation done. It may nothing major and the doc will give you Viagra, Cialis or Levitra. If it is something that could be serious, you can get a handle on it and get it under control.

It could be physical or it could be mental.

Impotence is defined as having a problem with getting or keeping an erection more than 25% of the time.

Your first step would be to see a doctor for a physical to rule out any medical problems. However, if you get night erections and can masturbate, then it's probably not a physical problem.

If it's psychological, then there are a series of things you can do. It may be related to stress or worry. For example, if you have one episode of impotence, perhaps because you're tired or drunk, then you might start obsessing about it and having it happen more often, just because you worry about it. So, the exercises focus on taking things slowly and learning to enjoy touch and sensation without worrying about having an erection.

For most people, if you've had sex successfully in the past and this is a recent problem, it can be fixed pretty easily with a little help from doctors and counselors, but you need to get educated and see a professional.
