same reason Indians love their chapathis/rotis, the french love their croissants, ethiopians love their injera....
they were raised on it, it's their comfort food!

The tortilla is a flat cake of corn dough, cooked on a hot griddle. It can be filled with just about anything. It is used in many ways, from eating just off the griddle with a little salt to being used in making enchiladas, tostadas, tacos, tortilla chips. The variety is endless. The tortilla has been around since before the conquest and every Mexican, from the poorest to the richest enjoys them. Just as Americans have their wheat bread, Mexicans have the tortilla and Europeans have their barley, rye or wheat bread, and India has the chapati and China and Japan have rice and Africans have mandioc bread. Every culture has their staple crop, ours just happened to be corn.

Because tortillas are sooo good. We can eat them beans, cheese, chile, meat, or whatever we want! Plus, if I don't have any clean silverware, I use a tortilla to scoop my food. YUM! Oh, they are also cheap and easy to make.

Tortillas to us are like white bread to americans. Its what we have in our country. We have corn, we make maza with corn and tortillas with the maza. We have alot of corn based food items in Mexico.

it is what we eat with almost every thing. it is one of the country food staples. i am guessing you are asking bc either you don't like them bc you have tasted the store bought crap and have never tasted a just cooked, still warm and steamy deliciousness in a small corn circle Or you are asking bc you see a lot of them and never have tasted one to understand what you are missing.
i suggest you taste a real one if you haven't and try to be more open.

It's a huge generalization, but it is a food staple. Every country has their own form of bread. It's part of the cuisine.

hello? every country has a staple food : in U.S. it's french fries and anything that goes in the oil and comes out crispy, in latin america, asia, some part of africa and india all have one thing in common- they eat rice everyday.
