Finding them?
At any pharmacy.
Using them?
That depends on your glucose meter, the instructions will be plain in the insert.
Affording them?
These strips cost ALOT! It's insane isn't it??? Now I'll go through the basics:
Insurance: Patients should never take for granted that their insurance covers any diabetic equipment or supplies. Always check with a company and get pre-approval beforehand in order to circumvent any costly mistakes.
Now, I presuming somethings up with your insurance so below are several links for you:

Don't know how old you are or if your a vet or married to one so here:
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) runs hospitals and clinics that serve veterans who have service-related health problems or who simply need financial aid. If you're a veteran and would like to find out more about VA health care, call 1–800–827–1000 or visit their website at www.va.gov.
And last suggestion is your local government. They have public health departments that can help people who need medical care. Your local county or city government's health and human services office can provide further information. Pick up your yellow pages and look it up.
The testing strips prices nearly constitutes highway robbery, it is vital and neccessary and you can't not test so your stuck, I know I've heard many of my patients say this and for that, I am so very sorry, but please continue to be pro active in your healthcare and many blessings to you!
