Funny, kind of reminds me of a cartoon I saw one day. Woman has a problem with her snoring husband so she get’s a big stack of paper bags and every time he snores she blows one up and the burst it sending him into a complete and unwelcome panic wake up! She tells him that’s what he can expect from now on until his snoring stops. Of course he’s left with a befuddled look on his face.

I wish I knew of a cure for snoring because I would definitely have my partner try it. One thing I have noticed though, as my partner is getting older and he’s put on more weight his snoring has multiplied exponentially even waking himself sometimes. So I think weight definitely a major factor. I’ve also noticed that he’s worse when really tired. But short of seeing a doctor and getting recommendations from them, then different bedrooms might be the only way you get a restful night of sleep.

I might add that I snore occasionally too, but it usually only happens when I’m really tired or have been out drinking all night. When I used to do that sort of thing.

Good Luck, I’ll be watching this post to see what people suggest. Thank you for asking it.

Have tried everything - ended up in Capio Rivers private hospital to discover he has a deviated septum and the doctor gave him a prescription spray to try for a month.

Its costs to go for a private consultation, but if husband is overweight then he needs lose the weight because the doctor will tell him the same thing. weight around the neck, chest or chins crushes the airways when he lays down and can cause snoring.

Tried all the products in the chemist and none of them work - dont waste your money.

If something worked it would be all over the news and no one would be snoring anymore!

They use sleep deprevation as a form of torture so I know where you are coming from - I now sleep in room next door

Is he often still tired when he wakes up? Does he wake up one or more times at night? Listen to his breathing while he sleeps. If he is not breathing in a regular rhythm, and occasionally stops breathing altogether, then his airway is collapsing while he is asleep. This is called "sleep apnea." He should be checked out for this by a pulmonologist, who will probably send him for a sleep study. If it's bad enough, they will recommend a CPAP or Bi-PAP machine for him. They are machines that pump air into him to keep his airway open, preventing the apnea and the snoring. The machines are very quiet and will not disturb you.

Does he sleep on his back? Does he snore if he's on his side? If not then (it sounds a bit odd) put a t shirt on, get a tennis ball and put it up his back then every time he goes to roll onhis back he will roll back over. If not my friends husband tried the spray and that really worked, or those nose strips? they open the airway a bit more. good luck, I know what its like to listen to!

My dad got operated on his nose because of it. They straightened the nasal cartilage inside the nose so that the air can flow better and the snoring should get better. He still snores though but not as bad as before.
