Hi,
You only need to do it once to pass it on. You don't have to be promiscuous to get it! (That's to the person earlier who insinuated that you should only sleep with people you care about!)
If you've had any kind of sexual contact with someone else between the last time you slept with your boyfriend and the time you got tested, you caught it from this new person.
It's strange that he hasn't got it too, as it is very easily spread. Therefore, he's either:
1) lucky
2) lying - he hasn't had a test
3) lying - he's got chlamydia, but perhaps he cheated on you, caught it from her, and doesn't want you to be suspicious
4) lying - he's got it, but doesn't want to tell you
5) his results are incorrect
Also, it's very doubtful a clinic would text somebody their results. This would easily breach confidentiality if the phone got stolen or was looked at by somebody else. My inclination is that he either hasn't been tested, or he has got it and doesn't want to tell you.
Either way, you did the right thing telling him to get tested. He might want to get tested again or go back to the GUM clinic to speak to them about the fact that you have it and he doesn't. They might be able to give him some more information.
Next time, make sure you get tested at the start of a new relationship, then every 6-12 months after that. This way, you will know you are clear to start with, and if you suddenly catch it during a relationship, you know that the other person has been playing around. Obviously, if you have a one-night stand or casual sex, use a condom and keep getting yourself tested.
I hope this helps
xx Emmie

It only takes one time for you to pass on an STD or STI and I would be using protection because some of these STI and STDs are becoming resistant to the medications out here. It's not pretty when someone gets clamydia or gonnorhea(I knew a guy who got it twice from two different women) Do not perform oral sex on anyone unless you really know your partner well because there are infections you can get through oral sex as well so only deal with someone you know really really well. Your life and health is non negotiable.

some peoples bodies can actually fight off chlamydia, its possible that he did have it but his body was able to get rid of the infection even without treatment. you are able to pass on an std from the first time you sleep with someone unprotected so always wear a condom and dont rely on luck

You can catch a sexually transmitted disease even if you have been with someone just once.
PS Emmie and Hayley make a very good point. I'd be very surprised if a clinic sent out results of any kind of test via text.

I've been told that it's much harder for an STI to be passed from a woman to a man than from a man to a woman, as there's alot less fluid. I'm sure he wouldn't lie and say he was clear if he wasn't. Good on you for being responsible!

You can sleep with him as many times as you want, but it only takes having sex once to pass an STD. It is usually more difficult for a male to acquire an STD, but that isn't always the case either.

For one.......what type of clinic text messages a patient their test results??? I have never heard of any clinic, doctor's office, or hospital that would ever even think of that. That is a huge liability to them. Something does not sound right.
Find out what clinic he went to, call them and ask them if it is their pratice to text message a person test results. If they say no (which I think they will) then your ex-boyfriend is lying to you.

It only takes once but they aren't always caught. Why risk it? In the future use protection. Females are at greater risk for STD's than males it's an anatomy thing. Men could be carriers.

Smacking you in the forehead ... you could have had a V8.
Pay attention it's a crap shoot you can pass on the disease at any time or maybe not at all. However, having unprotected sex oral or other wise is about as foolish as one person can get.
Or is it that you just don't understand that you are supposed to have sex only with people you care about?
