Istin is amlodipine. It is one of NICEs top choices of anti hypertensives, being a calcium channel blocker.( There are a number of guiding bodies and not all agree with NICE.)
Generally BP drugs are for life, since once the diagnosis is made the statistical risk justifies lifelong therapy.

I know someone on blood pressure meds., but have never heard of this one. Go to a message board on aol or oxygen and search it under that name. You can get a wealth of info. this way. Good luck.

istin is also called amlodipine, you should only stop taking them if your doctor advises you to do so. I take them myself in form of a 5mg dose.

yes its for high blood pressure and no you cannot stop takin them you are on them for life

my grandmother has been on istin for years..and yes she has been taken off them before and put back on them again..
