Panic attacks make you feel short of breath, and if your heart rate becomes really rapid could make you feel like you are having chest pains. Your heart is probably OK, but you really need to see your doc to control the anxiety and panic attacks. Getting a handle on the anxiety will probably make the chest pains stop and you will feel better in the long run. I hope this was helpful.

Honey, anxiety and stress are normal in a teenager, but it sounds like you have Generalized Anxiety and Panic disorder. Your heart can handle a panic attack, you won't die. Panic attacks can and do cause physical symptoms like shortness of breath, numbness in extremities, fainting , dizziness and chest pain. You do however need to talk to your doctor and parents about this, it can and apparently is affecting your daily life. Don't keep living in this kind of misery, there are alot of good, safe and effective drugs and treatments out there. The doctor will want to give you a physical just to be safe and to decide on the best treatment for you. Don't be afraid, just get help. Good Luck.

Hi Stephen. You are going to get a variety of suggestions, so here are mine. First, I would rule out a hiatal hernia. Hiatal hernias are common with obesity (with a BMI of 28, you are obese) and they can cause the symptoms you are experiencing. Second, an unlikely but very serious potential cause is a pheochromocytoma - a type of adrenal gland tumor. An evaluation by an endocrinologist would be appropriate for you. Third, chemical sensitivities can induce any and/or all of your symptoms. You will need to see a specialist in environmental medicine to evaluate this possibility. Lastly, SOMETHING is going on. It is NOT in your head. Frankly, it is professionally immature (unethical!) to throw the "stress - anxiety" head trip at a patient just because the doctor's basic lab tests come back normal. There are literally thousands of potential causes of signs/symptoms that standard lab tests do not evaluate. A competent provider would be honest and explain that they were not able to determine the cause of your problem - which is a very different position than blaming the patient for the doctor's inadequacies. Best wishes and good luck.

To be on the safe side I would say get a check up and tell your doctor what you have said here. Panic attacks can make you feel like you are having a heart attack or dying. See your family physician. There are lots of light medications that he/she can give you for panic so that you can carry on a normal life.

Good Luck to you

My husband used to have panic attacks that felt like his heart was stopping, with lots of pain. You should talk to your doctor...it sucks to live with the fear of panic attacks.

ugh, im 21 and i know exactly how you feel. its all in your head i promise. i had sharp pains running up and down my chest all the time. everything was perfectly normal with me too. i almost wished they would tell me something was wrong with me so i could fix it and be on with my life. but nothing was ever wrong with me. i worry too much! so much that within the past couple months i have had my blood pressure go up significantly. stress can do this! and high blood pressure can lead to heart problems. so if i was you, i wouldnt stress! i know its hard to just say but try to find something that takes your mind off of what it is your panicking about. good luck and message me if you need anymore advice!!

Go to your doctor.
If there is nothing very wrong with you then its probably a panic attack.
It sounds very familiar to what i had once and i had a panic attack but it can be several things.
Better be safe than sorry.
