Does anyone have any recommendations for a good English to Hindi and Hindi to English dictionary (preferably one volume)?

There are obviously many available, but I'm looking for personal recommendations of quality.

Thanks Batman, I will definitely check those out.

I already use Shabdkhosh.com actually, but it really isn't detailed enough for context etc so was hoping to find a more indepth "paper" dictionary, but thanks for the reco anyway.

I would suggest Father Camille Bulcke's "An English Hindi Dictionary" for English to Hindi translations. I had it in my home from the beginning and seems as if everyone thinks that it is the "standard" dictionary. Very nicely proofread, the dictionary is the most dependable among the lot.

For Hindi to English, there are not many options we have here. Bhargava's Standard Illustrated Dictionary seemed to be the unanimous choice. Our English teacher kept urging everyone to buy Bhargava's Dictionary. I still remember the red book-cover and the characteristic flavour of the book. Here is how the book cover looks (and has always been looking) like:

These days you can learn how to speak Hindi over the internet. Check out this online course, it's voted as the best Hindi online course of all time: http://www.rocketlearner.com/hindi The course is very easy to follow, I was able to learn Hindi in just 3 months.

I live in New York City, I wanted to go to a Hindi language teacher but that would have cost me over $800 per month. Good thing with this internet, $800 it's a lot of money for me.
